Teaching Employers Wellness in the Workplace

With leaner staffs, wellness in the workplace is becoming more important than ever. A couple dozen Siouxland employers gathered at St. Lukes for a wellness luncheon. Presenters highlighted the importance of quitting smoking, weight loss, and stress reduction.

It impacts productivity, health care and insurance costs and overall happiness. Experts say employers have to set an example and offer solutions. So the more that you can make your employee whole, whether its at home or at work, the better off everybody will be. And it really leads to retention. You know, the longer you'll keep that employee, the longer they're happy says Leisa Fox, Association of Business Industry. Fox says if employers create a wellness environment at work, employees can take accountability for their healthy; or unhealthy ; actions.
