Getting through Menopause with Exercise

Yes, it’s that stage in your life and unfortunately, unless you find the fountain of youth or a time machine soon, there’s no stopping it from coming full blast. But there’s good news though especially for those with numerous hot flashes, increased weight, sleeping disorders or even stress and anxiety. And it’s this: exercise has the ability to cure all that or rather it can help ease your way in such a way that you are going through menopause more gracefully than your friends are.

Exercise can help in many ways. It can increase your bone mass, in which case, osteoporosis which is most likely to occur during this time, can be prevented. Apart from osteoporosis, you prevent plenty more diseases such as heart problems, high blood pressure and the like. You are able to lessen depression because exercise releases endorphins. And most of all, you actually lessen your weight into a controllable level.

Scientifically, exercise also has the ability to balance your system same as what’s done in estrogen therapy. If you’ve never been a heavy exercise person in your lifetime, try to ease your way in slowly. Don’t make too drastic a change. After all, you’re undergoing too many changes at one time already. Rather, you can engage in simple exercises such as walking around the block, taking a weekend swim or asking friends to join a fitness class.

In whatever age or situation, it is never too late to start exercising. If you’re a little unsure of what to do, then hire a personal trainer or enroll in a fitness program to motivate you. Stone Fitness has plenty of trainers and programs you can choose from. Enroll today.
