New Drug Could Save ThousandsHospitals might have more empty beds soon. A new study is evaluating a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA). TXA has the power to reduce the rate of blood-clot breakdown and could save the lives of thousand of accident victims worldwide. The study, published online first and in an upcoming Lancet, shows that injuries are major causes of death worldwide.

New Treatment for Melanoma Shows Promise(Ivanhoe Newswire) -- Experts say combined targeted therapy against the BRAF/MAPK pathway with immunotherapy shows promise as a new approach for the treatment of melanoma. "Our results provide preclinical evidence for the rational combination of BRAF-targeted therapy and immunotherapy in the treatment of this most dangerous type of skin cancer," lead researcher Jennifer A. Wargo, M.D., from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, was quoted as saying.
